From where does the ASI receive its data?

The Airspeed Indicator (ASI) receives its data from the Air Data Computer (ADC). The ADC functions as a critical component in aircraft instrumentation, gathering and processing various atmospheric parameters such as static pressure, dynamic pressure, and temperature. It computes true airspeed, indicated airspeed, and other relevant data essential for flight measurement. This processed information is then transmitted to various flight instruments, including the ASI.

In contrast, while the Altitude Reporting Transponder, Navigation Computer, and Flight Management System are vital for other functions within the aircraft, such as navigation and altitude reporting, they do not directly provide the ASI with the data it requires to reflect airspeed accurately during flight. The ADC is specifically designed to analyze the relevant air data and deliver it to the ASI, making it the correct source for the ASI's data inputs.
